100 main educational world projects include “Moscow Electronic School” and “Medical Class”. Largely due to these projects, the efficiency of education is growing. Moscow projects were highly appriciated at Global HundrED Innovation Summit in Helsinki.

“Global HundrED Innovation Summit in the sphere of education was held in Helsinki the other day. “Moscow Electronic School (MES)” and “Medical Class in Moscow school” now feature on the list of 100 major world projects,” – the mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin posted in his microblog on Twitter.

Obvious benefits

“Moscow Electronic School” is 2 years old now. All educational city institutions of the city take part in this project.

“We are trying our best for Moscow schools to be up-to-date and to prepare our school leavers to enter the best universities,” Sergey Sobyanin noted.

Within the framework of the project, teachers use interactive panels, and children use smartphones and laptops at the lessons.

However, anticipating the question about the influence of gadgets on children’s health, it has to be said that the usage of MES equipment marks only part of the lesson, and notebooks and pens are still in use.

Meanwhile, the project “Moscow Electronic School” has a variety of advantages. One of them is an opportunity to visualise information.

Thanks to this fact, education becomes more interesting and efficient. “MES” has made students’ school bags lighter. Textbooks are downloaded on the laptops, and schoolers do interactive tests instead of paper tests.

Grades and home assignments are now stored in the e-register, which both children and parents have access to.

Another advantage is security. Under the scope of the project, the system of a single electronic pass to check in and out of school is implemented. It is called “entry and canteen” and it allows parents to track what time their children entered school, what they had for lunch and when they left the building.

A space for ideas

The project provides a lot of opportunities for teachers, as well. They can design scenarios or use the materials of their colleagues. The most active users are awarded grants from 50 000 to 100 000 rubles.

“The rewards system is a great stimulus to develop MES, consequently to develop school educational process in general,” – the Press Service representative of Moscow Department of Education said.

Practice-oriented education

Besides the digitalization of education, schoolers’ conscious choice of their future profession is a priority for Moscow education. Pre-professional classes such as Medical class are launched in schools to achieve this goal.

At the lessons, schoolers use laboratory and research equipment. Students are instructed by the best teachers.

Medical classes provide more than just theoretical knowledge: there are electronic simulators, tonometers, spirographs, electrocardiographs. About 3 500 schoolers study in Medical classes today.

Both children and their parents welcome the ambitious programme of professional guidance. Now it is easier for schoolers to choose their future career; they have an open access to the multiple opportunities of a metropolis.

Additionally, other pre-professional classes such as Engineering Class, Academic Class, and Cadet Class are available for Moscow schoolers.

DIRECT SPEECH

Isaak Kalina, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department of Education and Science

We have launched Engineering Class, Medical Class, Cadet Class, Academic Class to give high school students an opportunity to experience the professions of their choice. If while studying in a pre-professional class, some students realize the profession does not really appeal to them, it will also be a positive experience, as they will not make a mistake of entering the wrong university. That is why I believe that today the two major directions are the electronic school and pre-professional classes. I think today these are the most groundbreaking changes in comprehensive schooling.
