Sergei Sobyanin: Mr. Kalina, please tell us about pre-university performance and about expansion of opportunities for Moscow students to enroll in pre-profile and profile classes at the universities.
Isaac Kalina: Thank you. Sergei Semyonovich, it has been a little bit over four years since the relevant decree was adopted, and we have already reached good results. We managed to select reliable Moscow universities that work with our high school students. Today we ask for two additions to this decree.
Firstly, when the decree was adopted, we counted only on state universities, and now there is a number of reliable private universities that also want to take part in this project. Hence, we ask to add that not only the public but also private universities can participate in this project.
Secondly, over the years, universities have learned to work with the senior students, now they ask permission to work with eighth-graders. They are already independent teenagers - 14 years old - who quite consciously choose the place of study; therefore, we asked to add these points to the decree.
Sergei Sobyanin: Why do universities need this extra workload?
Isaac Kalina: Firstly, Mr. Sobyanin, the Moscow Government is funding…
Sergey Sobyanin: We fund the standard of education, but we do not fund the cost of material maintenance.
Isaac Kalina: The universities want to have - what is called - a reliable applicant. Today Moscow universities really want to see Moscow schoolchildren as their students, it must be admitted. While they are still in school, they choose a particular university. That is more…
Sergei Sobyanin: They want students who enter universities to be as prepared as possible for further study and understand what profession they choose.
Isaac Kalina: And also wanted to enter this particular university. That is the formation of its applicant.
Sergei Sobyanin: Good. No objections anyone? Thank you.
